“My Only Offer” from Mates of States’ new album Re-Arrange Us. The whole album is great and is full of all the quick time changes and upbeat themes that make Mates of State awesome. It almost sounds like one continuous song.

I think I’m going to start summarizing American Gladiators each week, because this is just too ridiculous to not.

Some highlights from the premiere and clips from the rest of the season:

They’re bringing the hamster ball and the SkyTrack back, which I’m incredibly excited about. The also added a game called “Vertigo” which no one can do obviously, unless they are a gladiator. There’s more fire in the Eliminator swim, and a teeter-totter balance beam thing that is kind of lame.

Also, whose idea was it to end the Eliminator in the water? They’re going to drown someone! But they have little scuba spotters to save everyone. Thanks goodness!

Updates from the women’s first Eliminator competition:

One of the ladies fell into the comically deep ball pit under the hand-bike!
The women are neck-and-neck! This is totally coming down to the Travelator and they keep falling on their faces! LOL!! One made it up and then fell at the top and slide down backwards!
OMG they’re at like over 9 minutes on this thing. And they’re both sitting down now.
One finally made it!! And almost drowned. Obv.

Gah, I love this show. What have we been doing with our lives the past 15 or 20 years without it?!

Bartlett said he has heard about a dozen complaints, all in Wake County, from Republicans wanting to vote Democratic, though he suspects the situation is coming up in other places as well.

Earlier this year, conservative radio personality Rush Limbaugh urged Republicans in states that allow crossover voting to cast ballots for Sen. Hillary Clinton. Limbaugh said he wanted to keep the Democrats fighting among themselves.

Great. What is this, a high school student body election? Using democracy against their own country… how Republican of them.

Attention meat-eaters:

‘[PETA] said it would announce plans today for a $1 million prize to the “first person to come up with a method to produce commercially viable quantities of in-vitro meat at competitive prices by 2012.”’

However, not everyone in PETA agrees:

‘Lisa Lange, a vice president of the organization, said she was part of the heated exchange. “My main concern is, as the largest animal rights organization in the world, it’s our job to introduce the philosophy and hammer it home that animals are not ours to eat.”

Lange added, “I remember saying I would be much more comfortable promoting eating roadkill.”’

My opinion: Gross, either way.

This is great - The first time I said the F-word as a kid it was because I am awesome at remembering things like song lyrics and movie quotes and I really really loved Adventures in Babysitting when I was 5.

5-year-old-me was rehashing the scene when they’re in the subway with the dueling gangs. I perfectly quoted it all the way to the part when Elisabeth Shue steps in and says “Don’t FUCK with the babysitter!”

While I did get in trouble, and knew that I had said something wrong as soon as it came out of my 5-year-old mouth, my mom had to leave the room so she wouldn’t die from laughing in front of me which of course would have encouraged me to curse more.

Right now the enigma that is known only as SKULLPHONE is easily Clear Channel Communications‘ greatest enemy in SoCal since he hijacked 10 of the advertising giant’s most prominent digital billboards around LA in Hollywood, Westwood, and the art hotspot of Culver City. Hacking into the billboard’s computer network today, our boy positioned his trademark skullphone imagery in between the array of flashing movie, TV, and auto company ads that make up the normal paid advertising barrage on the giant illuminated monitors.
